Admissions Requirements - Early Childhood Education
Students interested in the Early Childhood Education technology must be admitted to the College before admission to the technology. For additional admissions information, please view the College Admissions Procedures.

A copy of the Early Childhood Education Student Handbook, which includes the requirements for conditional and formal acceptance to the technology as well as the eligibility criteria for the student teaching practicum, may be obtained from the Early Childhood Education coordinator or Student Services.

Criteria for conditional acceptance is based on Ohio Revised Code and regulations promulgated from the code.

The following conditions must be met before conditional acceptance occurs:

  • Complete an application for admission to the college.
  • A copy of high school diploma, transcript, or GED on file in ECE office.
  • Submit any previous college transcripts.
  • Schedule and complete the Accuplacer.
  • Schedule classes.

A student enrolled in a course with contact hours with children (ECE 111, ECE 183, ECE 184, ECE 127, ECE 137, ECE 217, ECE 285, ECE 292) must have on file with the program director the following materials:

  • Result of Criminal Records check. (BCI for Ohio resident during the past 5 years.) BCI and FBI if not a resident for the past five years.
  • Three letters of recommendation on a specified form from individuals who are not relatives.
  • Medical statement on required form.
  • A signed statement that the individual has not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to child abuse or other crimes of violence.
