Provides both field and laboratory practice in the sampling techniques
and chemical analysis (wet chemistry, instrumentation, portable test
kits) of surface waters. The ecology of lentic and lotic ecosystems
is included, so seasonal variations can be incorporated into the interpretation
and reporting of water quality data.

ENV 230 - Hazardous Materials Spill Response
Prepares students to safely respond to accidental releases of hazardous
materials through the use of personal protection equipment, monitoring
instrumentation, and control techniques. Provides information and training
for the Hazardous Materials Technician in accordance with the HAZWOPER
standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(q). A certificate will be awarded upon completion.

Freshwater fish are studied in terms of their taxonomy, morphology,
life history, and ecology. Aquatic habitat evaluation is combined with
management practices for lakes, ponds, and stream systems. Population
studies, age and growth, food habits, and stocking techniques are incorporated
into sound ecological practices.
