Human Service Assistant
The Human Service Assistant program prepares students to assume beginning employment as direct service practitioners in a variety of human service agencies or organizations.

Human Service Assistants build careers in areas of:

  • Social services
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Aging services
  • Mental health & developmental disability services
  • Corrections
  • Public and private social service agencies

The program curriculum includes extensive exploration of bio-psycho-social research and knowledge. Further, the student will develop skills in individual and group communication, problem assessment, treatment planning and documentation, and crisis intervention.

There are three concentrations within the Human Service Assistant program:

  • Social Work Assisting
  • Mental Health Assisting
  • Addictions
