| Admissions Requirements - Medical Assisting
Admission to the Medical Assisting program is selective. Applicants are
required to show evidence of satisfactory completion of high school and/or
previous college work with a minimum GPA of 2.0. For detailed information
on the admission procedure, contact the program director for a complete
admissions packet.
To be considered for the fall quarter class, you must complete all of
the following and submit the appropriate documentation before September
1.
- Apply to Zane State College listing "MAT" as your technical
field of study. For additional admissions information, please view the
College Admissions
Procedures.
- If you are already enrolled at Zane State College, complete a Change
of Technology form.
- Complete the Zane State College Assessment and Placement Test (Accuplacer)
for math and communications skills. This may be arranged through the
Zane State Student Success Center.
- If you have attended college previously (other than Zane State College),
submit a college transcript.
- Attend a Medical Assisting screening.
If you have been accepted to Zane State College, but not to the MAT program,
you may enroll in the Health Core Program. This curriculum allows you
to complete courses pertaining to the MAT degree as well as other health
technologies offered at Zane State. Demonstration of academic excellence
in these courses will enhance your application to the MAT program. Please
contact the MAT faculty advisor if you wish to enroll in the Health Core
Curriculum.
We also recommend that you spend some time becoming familiar with the
Medical Assisting Technology and health core. Working in health care as
an employee or volunteer would be helpful in this regard. |
