Student Life

Daily Schedule
Students are required to attend classes Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. This schedule allows students to continue to participate in extra-curricular, after-school activities at their high schools. Faculty members take attendance daily and regularly report this information to Mid-East Career and Technology Centers.

Classroom
All classes at conducted at Zane State College. During the junior year, students will remain in classes together as a “cohort.” Gradually, during their senior year, students will be scheduled into courses with other college students.

Quarter vs. School Year
Quarters at Zane State College last approximately 11 weeks with the exception of fall quarter, which will include a “pre-fall session.” During “pre-fall,” students will enroll in an orientation class, a computer class, and an introduction to a technical course. Students will attend Zane State College for a total of six quarters (fall {2}, winter {2}, and spring {2}).

Tentative Dates for the 2007-2008 school year are:

  • Pre-Fall session: August 22 – September 15
  • Fall quarter: September 17 – December 14
  • Winter quarter: January 2 – March 21
  • Spring quarter: March 31 – June 14

Transportation
Students will be responsible for transportation to and from classes at Zane State College. Mid-East Career and Technology Centers will provide transportation for field trips.

Lunch
Students will have ample time for a lunch break each day. While Zane State has no campus meal plan in place, students have many low cost and convenient options such as Roberta’s Café in the Campus Center and other surrounding restaurants.

Student Code of Conduct
All Pathways to Engineering students will be responsible to follow the Mid-East Career and Technology Centers and the Zane State College student codes of conduct. Please note that when policies conflict, the student will be held accountable to the more restrictive policy.

Student Club

  • Participate in fundraisers and elect officers to represent the club on Student Senate
  • Travel to business and industry sites to meet with engineers and technicians to learn more about the career field
  • Visit colleges and universities to learn about transfer options to baccalaureate program
