Hatha Yoga - April 27 to June 1, 2013

Registration Fee - $45.00 for 6 sessions or $10.00 per individual session

This class is suitable for the beginning and intermediate yoga student.  Each class will flow through sun salutations, standing poses, sitting poses, and a short relaxation period.  Modifications will be made during each class so that students can make the poses more or less challenging depending on personal preference. The class will move at a moderate pace and is sequenced to strengthen and stretch the body while relaxing and quieting the mind. 

Jan Arnold has been a student of yoga since 2001 and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.  In 2006 she completed her 200 hour Ashtanga and Hatha yoga teacher training at It's Yoga in Grandview, Ohio. For the past 12 years, Jan has worked in the field of education as a classroom teacher, Early Intervention Specialist, and as a university administrator.  Throughout her career, Jan has used yoga as a way to find stress relief from the professional world.  Her goal is to share the powerful stress relief and wellness practices that are accessible to everybody regardless of age and fitness ability.

Jan teaches a variety of Ashtanga, Hataha, Vinyasa, and Restorative yoga classes.  Her classes are designed to be energizing and relaxing.  Each class incorporates elements of yoga theory, alignment, playfulness, and relaxation.  During class Jan offers modifications and assists so that each student can experience the full effects of yoga.

In addition, Jan is certified as a Yoga Ed. Instructor /Teacher Trainer and has taught yoga to children in at- risk populations. Jan is also an experienced workshop presenter and Reiki practitioner.  Join her on the mat to experience the contentment that results from a balanced mind, body, and soul.

Join Chef Marco Adornetto as he instructs one of the most popular Community Education classes, Grill Like a Pro.  This class is a hands-on experience in which participants will prepare, grill and eat a wide array of delicious foods under the instruction of a professional chef. This is an excellent class for the grilling beginner, the experienced cook or those who just want to spend a fun day eating fabulous food from the charcoal grill.  Register soon - this workshop always fills up fast!

Mountain Dulcimer Workshop - July 27, 2013

People who live in the Appalachian Region of the United States have played the mountain dulcimer for decades.  Come learn to play this wonderful three stringed American instrument.  Participants 9 through 99+ will receive their own mountain dulcimer to take home and will learn to play at least 10 songs.  No prior muscial training or experience is necessary.  If you have never played an instrument before, this workshop is for you!

Harmonica Workshop - July 27, 2013

Time - 12:15 pm – 2:15 pm

This two-hour workshop will teach participants 9 through 99+ to play the harmonica.  We will explore how to read harmonica music; how to play the instrument; and how to translate any song into harmonica tablature so that you can play it on the harmonica.  Participants will receive their own harmonica to take home and will leave the workshop having played at least 10 songs. No prior musical training is necessary!

People who live in the Pacific Islands have played the ukulele for decades.  Portuguese sailors who played the ukulele spread the instrument throughout the pacific.  Workshop participants will learn to play at least 7 songs on this wonderful four stringed instrument that they will be able to take home. Participants will learn to strum the instrument properly, tune the ukulele in both standard and open tuning; and learn how to read a chord chart.  No prior musical training or experience is necessary.
