Awards for Making a Difference
Developmental Education Division
Zane State College believes everyone who has the ability to succeed in college should have the chance to earn a college degree and improve their way of life. Between 2005 and 2011, the College saw a 50 percent increase in the number of students entering college underprepared for college-level coursework. Due to the strong efforts of the Developmental Education Division, the percentage of Zane State College students who take developmental education courses and subsequently pass college-level courses is among the highest in the nation.
The College is proud to say its Developmental Education division was recently recognized as the Outstanding Developmental Program in Ohio at the 2013 annual conference of the Ohio Association for Developmental Education.
At the same conference, Beth Newland received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Developmental Education by an Adjunct Professional. Newland has taught developmental math courses at Zane State College since 2009.
