Graduation

 

Graduation Requirements
These requirements must be completed for an associate degree or a one-year certificate:

  • Fulfill all course requirements of a particular degree or certificate program;
     
  • Earn an overall GPA of at least 2.0;
     
  • Complete a minimum of 24 of the last 36 quarter hours of technical course credit as a student of Zane State College;
     
  • For the A.A.S./A.A.B. Degree, earn a minimum of 96 credit hours of coursework and meet the minimum distribution requirements as follows: 45 credits in the major technical requirements area with at least 24 credits in one discipline, 42 credits in general education and basic studies area.
     
  • Complete the A.A.S./A.A.B. general education course requirements of the College in English (3 courses), speech (1 course), mathematics (1 course), computer literacy (1 course), social sciences (3 courses) and natural sciences (1 course)
     
  • Complete IDS 101, College Success Strategies

- OR -

  • Complete the general education certificate course requirements in English (2 courses), mathematics (1 course) and computer literacy (1 course);
     
  • Complete IDS 101, College Success Strategies
     
  • Be certified by the registrar as having met all requirements for the degree or one year certificate;
     
  • Satisfy program accreditation standards that may have additional requirements;
     
  • Resolve all financial obligations to the College; and
     
  • Return all library books and College material.
     

Petition for Graduation
A candidate for a degree or certificate must complete a Petition for Graduation and take it to the appropriate division dean for submission to the registrar at the time of registration for the student’s final quarter of study and per the quarterly deadlines listed in the Academic Calendar.

Students graduating later than originally petitioned are responsible for notifying the registrar.
 

Graduation Fees
A petition for graduation must be submitted at the time of registration for a student’s last quarter of study. The faculty advisor, division dean, and registrar then verify that requirements have been fulfilled for either the one-year certificate or an associate degree. A $60* charge will be made at the time the petition is submitted.

* An additional $5 graduation fee is charged for an allied health pin to graduates in Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Technologies.
