Internships

What is an internship?

The internship affords on-the-job learning experiences during which the student may apply what has been learned during the previous year, under the dual supervision of an employer and a College instructor. The purpose of the internship is to introduce the student to a real-life working situation through which he or she can more easily enter the job market with experiences after completion of the second year of the program.

Why engage in an internship?

  • Opportunity to build your knowledge base and develop your skills.
  • Employers seek graduates with relevant experience and familiarity with the work environment.
  • Future employment opportunities.
  • Valuable contacts and references.
  • Better starting salary.

All internships, regardless of the source used to find the internship, must be approved by your academic advisor and division dean. Please view Student Internship Procedural Guidelines for detailed information.

The Career and Employment Services Office can assist you with employment possibilities; however, students must obtain their own jobs.
