Sustainable Agriculture Technology – Production Major
The Sustainable Agriculture Technology programs enable students to develop the skills necessary to attain a career or secondary income from agriculture production or management. Sustainable Agriculture Technology focuses on the production and marketing of traditional and non-traditional crops and animals using methods that are environmentally friendly, economically efficient and socially responsible.
The Sustainable Agriculture Technology Production major emphasizes plant and animal sciences along with additional biological science courses. The overall goal is to provide students with the core knowledge necessary to produce and market agricultural products in a genuinely sustainable fashion.
Upon completion of the program, students will have the knowledge required to improve the sustainability of farm operations and enterprises throughout the region and abroad. Graduates can find employment opportunities in sustainable crop production, livestock management, farm-based education, community outreach, sales and marketing of agricultural products, farm policy and food systems development.
