“Students are the most important part of what I do. My desire to be the type of teacher they deserve has only been fueled by their hard work in my classroom. The fact that my students nominated me for this award floors me. I’ve been incredibly blessed to be part of their journey. But I am also grateful to be part of an incredibly wonderful and caring team of people at Zane State College who truly believe in our mission and our students. This has been an amazing journey for me and I can’t be more thankful to get to continue working with students on their journey to achieve their dreams.” Assistant English Professor Angela Hendershot
Zane State College is proud to announce that Assistant English Professor Angela Hendershot has been named the 2025 recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award. This prestigious honor recognizes faculty and staff who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to student success and their college community.
“Professor Hendershot’s creativity and commitment to students are inspiring to all of us at Zane State. She is so deserving of this award,” said Deb Hysell, Executive Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Hendershot was nominated for her exceptional dedication to student achievement and her inspiring approach to teaching. Known for her accessibility and encouragement, she consistently goes the extra mile to support and empower her students both inside and outside the classroom.
“Angela goes above and beyond to make sure her students know she cares and wants to help them succeed,” said Dianne Morehead, ZSC student and award nominator. “She makes time for her students—she’s always willing, no matter what she has going on, to answer questions outside of class. And the biggest thing of all—she encourages her students to use their creative imaginations!”
Zane State College celebrates this well-deserved recognition and applauds Assistant Professor Hendershot for her unwavering dedication to excellence in education. She will be honored at NISOD’s annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas.
