Data Analytics Certificate

a student studying

Every organization needs people who can turn raw data into answers. Zane State College’s Data Analytics Certificate teaches you to prepare and clean data, reason with statistics, query databases with SQL, and build visualizations that tell the story, all in just two semesters.

The certificate works two ways. Complete it on its own and step into entry-level roles in data reporting, analysis support, and business intelligence. Or stack it onto a major like business, IT, or accounting to make the degree you’re already earning more marketable. Along the way you’ll move from Excel and an introduction to artificial intelligence through database management, applied business statistics, and hands-on data science.

Highlights

Short and focused: the full certificate is 27 credit hours across one fall and one spring semester.

Stackable by design. Complete it on its own or add it to majors such as business, IT, and accounting.

Build job-ready skills in data preparation, statistical reasoning, SQL querying, and data visualization.

FUTURE, YOUR WAY.

A Closer Look

Almost every career runs on data now. Business owners watch sales and costs, IT teams monitor systems, and accountants live in spreadsheets. That is why this certificate is built to pair with almost any major at Zane State. You take two semesters of data classes alongside your regular courses, and you graduate knowing how to collect information, organize it, and explain what it means.

Think of it as a second skill set that makes your first one stronger. An accounting major who can build a clear chart from a messy spreadsheet, or a business major who can query a database instead of waiting on someone else to do it, stands out to employers from day one.

Graduates will be prepared for entry-level roles involving data reporting, analysis support, and business intelligence tasks.

You start with tools you may already know, like Excel, and build up step by step. You will get an introduction to artificial intelligence, learn how databases store information and how to pull answers out of them with SQL, and take applied business statistics so the numbers make sense. From there you move into data literacy, data visualization, an introduction to data science, and a final course in data analytics theory and solutions. A mathematics elective rounds out the 27 credit hours.
