HIM professionals are highly trained in the latest information management technology applications and understand the workflow in any healthcare provider organization from large hospital systems to the private physician practices. This career combines knowledge of and skills from medicine, information management, business applications and computer technology within the healthcare industry.

Upon graduating from the HIMT program, you are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician certification. This means, you can jump straight into your bachelor's degree as a junior.
With additional work experience, you may also be eligible for other certifications including the Certified Coding Associate, Certified Coding Specialist, and Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based.
