Wildlife Conservation

Professor teaching a wildlife conservation class

Do you like to live on the wild side … that is, spending time in nature and enjoying the world’s creatures and creations? The Wildlife Conservation Program can turn your passion into a prosperous career where your office is a vast open space, lake, or forest. Zane State’s Wildlife Conservation learning facilities include a 150-acre Natural Resources Center near Dillon State Park and a 70-acre wetland on Shannon Valley Road. Explore these outdoor laboratory sites as you study botany, ecology, fisheries, GIS, and zoology.

Connect the circuits in your life when your knowledge progresses from the basics of DC and AC circuit analysis, electronic devices, and digital signal processing through advanced coursework in electronic amplifiers, industrial instrumentation, microprocessor interfacing, PLC wiring, and programming, motors, and controls, designing and installing networked computer systems, and telecommunications.

The rapid growth of the electronic, telecommunication, and computer industries worldwide has led to a demand for electronics technicians far exceeding supply. As a result, wages and benefits for electronics technicians rank among the top for two-year graduates, often exceeding those of four-year graduates in other disciplines. Graduates work for such well-known companies as Intel, American Electric Power, Canon, IBM, Boeing, Tallgrass Energy, A-K Steel, EASi, Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative, Basic Systems, Columbia Gas, Verizon, AT&T, and Xerox.

Everything that the light touches… is powered by a student like you with an Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Degree.

Highlights

Career opportunities include local, state, and federal positions with parks, wildlife, and conservation agencies.

Private organizations, such as The Wilds, zoos, arboretums, campgrounds, and landscape nurseries, also employ graduates.

The Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy at Zane State College is available for students seeking park, wildlife, or watercraft officer positions.
